James M. Blumer, 73, of Alexander, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Blumer was born August 25, 1952, in Syracuse, NY, a son of Melvin and Marjorie (Ladd) Blumer.

James married the love of his life, Sherry Gristwood, on February 26, 1972. Together, they moved to Florida, and James ran the largest concrete, brickwork, and masonry subcontractor on the coast. Later, he worked for many dairy farms in Western New York and was a member of the New York Farm Bureau.
James was a member of the WNY Gas & Steam Engine Association. He was an avid collector of antique farm equipment and tools. James enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and home canning.

Surviving is his loving wife of 53 years, Sherry Blumer; mother, Marjorie Blumer; daughter in law, Phyllis Blumer; grandchildren, Skylair (Alex) Stockschlaeder, Richard Blumer, James Blumer, and Madeline Blumer; great grandchild, Aiden Stockshlaeder; siblings, Kristen "Kris" (Rosemarie) Blumer, Brenda Ross, Jodie Kling, Cindy Brown, Wendy (Edward) Perkins, and Deena Druce; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

James is reunited in death with his father, Melvin Blumer, and son Russell Blumer.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at Marley Funeral Home, 135 Main Street, Attica, on Friday, August 29, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, followed by a funeral service. After the funeral service everyone is invited to the Club House at the Steam Show Grounds. James will be buried with his family in Roosevelt Cemetery in Pennellville, NY, on September 9, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family for the purchase of a headstone: Blumer Family, 10300 Gillate Road, Alexander, NY 14005.
