Doyle Lee VanSchuyver, 92, of Ponca City, formerly of Arkansas City passed away Friday, January 26, 2024, at Renaissance of Ponca City. Cremation has been effected. A private family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Inurnment will take place at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery at a later date.
Doyle was born December 27, 1931, to Mid and Eura (Perren) VanSchuyver of Wanette, OK. He grew up and attended school in Wanette, OK graduating in 1949.
On February 22, 1953, Doyle married the love of his life, Joyce Marie Burkhart in Winfield, KS. Doyle worked for General Electric as an inspector for 34 years. The couple made their home in various places due to Doyle's job. They eventually settled in Arkansas City and remained there for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a basketball and baseball coach in Arkansas City.
Survivors include his sister Sue Goodnight, his two brothers Robert and David, two sons Russell VanSchuyver and fiancée Mary Kelly, Tony VanSchuyver and wife Debbie, 10 grandchildren Kyle Turner, Cory Turner and wife Samantha, Camron VanSchuyver and wife Alexia, Casey VanSchuyver, Hannah Rose and husband Matt, Blair VanSchuyver, Amy Valbuena and husband Michael, Amber VanSchuyver and husband Ariel, Tirzah Alexander, Claire Collins, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Doyle was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Wayland and Bill, and his wife Joyce.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Arkansas City Recreation Commission Little League Sports. Contributions may be made through the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home and Crematory. Online condolences may be made at www.rindt-erdman.com.
