Ernest "Roy" VanSchuyver, 80, lifelong resident of Wanette, Oklahoma passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 in Norman, Oklahoma.
He was born December 28, 1944 to A.H. and Isabella (Hulse) VanSchuyver in Purcell, Oklahoma.
Roy was raised in Wanette and graduated from Wanette High School.
He married Lawana "Sue" Henderson on September 2, 1993 in Wanette, Oklahoma.
Roy proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged on August 16, 1968.
He worked for many years for the City of Wanette as the water works operator and as the boiler operator for Griffin Memorial Hospital. Roy also pumped oil wells for years. Along with his wife, Sue, they cared for Wanette Cemetery for many years.
Roy was an active member of the Wanette First Baptist Church. He was a member of the Wanette Lion Club and Wanette Flag Day. Roy loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, and he especially enjoyed spoiling grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his son, David VanSchuyver; his parents, A.H. and Isabella VanSchuyver.
Those left to cherish is memory are his wife, Sue VanSchuyver of the home; daughters, Brenda and David Wallace of Wanette, OK, Sharon Booze of Wanette, OK, Kim Munse and Stephanie; 4 grandchildren, Dustin Atchley of Wanette, OK, Ryan Atchley of Wanette, OK, Brandy Litson of Wanette, OK and Sally Holt of Purcell, OK; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews; and other extended family and friends.
Service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 25, 2025 at Wanette First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Wanette Cemetery under the direction of Cooper Funeral Home of Tecumseh.
