Corbin Jefferson Turpin, Jr., M.D., 81, of West Monroe, LA was born on January 21, 1944, in Vancouver, WA to Judy and Corbin Turpin, Sr. and passed away from this life on October 26, 2025, in West Monroe, LA.

Corbin’s family is originally from Bastrop, LA and moved back to Bastrop after World War II and later moved to Monroe, LA. During Corbin’s growing-up years he spent his summers working in the lumber yard at the family business, Turpin Buy-Rite. He enjoyed duck hunting with his dad and brother, Jeff and with all the ducks they killed came many duck hunting stories. Corbin also had a quick wit and loved a good joke. He was an avid water skier and enjoyed spending time on Bayou DeSiard skiing with his family. Corbin enjoyed being with friends and playing guitar. He would croon the songs of Hank Williams, John Prine, Boby Dylan and to Terri’s dismay “Cover of the Rolling Stones by Dr. Hook.” Another enjoyment of Corbin’s was flying, and he obtained his IFR License.

Corbin was a graduate of Neville High School and continued his education at Tulane University. He graduated from Tulane with a degree in Business, after his dad said, “pick the thing you hate the least and get on with it.” Afte graduation he was employed by the Trust Bank of Georgia. Eventually the Turpin family sold their business and Corbin’s parents encouraged him to go to Medical School. In 1978, he graduated from Tulane Medical School and returned to Monroe to practice Internal Medicine. Corbin was a knowledgeable and caring doctor always remembering what one of professors told him, “ To be a good doctor, one always needs the three A’s; Ability, Affability, and Availability”. Corbin possessed all three.

In 1994, he closed his patient practice and began weekend work as a locum tenens for local physicians. In the latter part of Corbin’s medical career, he was fortunate to band with a group of physicians in our community. Together with the guidance of Dr. Gary Jones, they formed Vantage Health Plan. From this alliance, Corbin met and formed lasting friendships. He truly cared about his co-workers from Vantage, even after he retired from Vantage in 2022, he maintained a close friendship. However, as much as Corbin loved his family and friends, nothing was as important to him as his love of Jesus. He worshipped at First Baptist Church of West Monroe and has been a member for twenty-two years.

His favorite scripture is 1 Corinthians 13:4, “Love is patient, Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.”

Corbin is survived by his loving wife of twenty-seven years, Terri; his daughter, Lisa Turpin; his son’s, Corbin Turpin, III (Mellie) and Chris Turpin (Inna); step son, Whitney Brandin (Megan); his 12 grandchildren, Cass Turpin, John Thomas Littleton, Donovan Turpin, Cameron Turpin, Jilli Turpin, Lilly Grace Turpin, Adam Turpin, Mary Jane Turpin, Kate Turpin, Venia Ivashev, Dmitri Ivashev, and Jack Brandin; his brothers, Jeff Turpin (Leila) and Allen Turpin (Leo); the mother of his children, Susan Winter; mother-in-law, Hazel Ray; sister-in-law, Lori Domonkos (Scott); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, and Terri’s cousin, Elwanda Kirby, in which the two had a close bond and claimed to be each other’s “Bodyguard”. Corbin will also be missed by his two constant companions, Clementine and Marigold.

Corbin is preceded in death by his parents, Corbin J. Turpin, Sr. and Judith Willey Turpin; and his sister, Lucylu Turpin King.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, November 1, 2025, in the Feazel Chapel of First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Dr. Mark Fenn and Dr. Woods Watson officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.
