Dr. Marcel T. Hoffman, MD, age 59, of the Village of Lakewood, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, brilliance, and quiet strength. Born in Peoria, Illinois, Marcel was the beloved son of the late Dr. Xuan Truong and Phyllis Hoffman Truong, and a cherished brother, husband, physician, and friend.

A gifted student, Marcel earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois and continued on to Southern Illinois University, where he pursued his lifelong calling in medicine. He faithfully served the community as a respected internist with Northwestern Hospital in Woodstock, Illinois, for 28 years. With dedication and humility, he treated every patient as if they were family. His commitment to healing was not just a career, but a deeply rooted mission of care.

Marcel was a proud member of the American Medical Association and was admired by colleagues and patients alike for his calm wisdom, attentive heart, and unwavering kindness.

Outside the clinic, Marcel lived a life full of quiet joy and enduring passions. An accomplished pianist, he played in a jazz band during his college years, infusing his days with rhythm and grace. He was drawn to nature—whether capturing its beauty through the lens of his camera, casting a fishing line with his twin brother Hans, or simply standing still in the peace of the outdoors.

At the center of his heart was his beloved wife, Jill LukovichHoffman. Together, they created a beautiful life—filled with laughter at the movies, adventures across the country, and quiet evenings with their beloved dog Chloe, whom Marcel adored as their cherished “fur baby.” His marriage to Jill on July 23, 2017, was the beginning of a partnership defined by deep affection, mutual admiration, and abiding love.

Marcel's presence was a gift to all who knew him. He will be profoundly missed by his loving wife Jill; his twin brother, Dr. Hans Truong; his sisters Nicole (Jason) Keller and Dr. Claudine Gillison (Joseph McCoy); and his treasured nieces and nephews: Justin and Joshua Truong, Miles and Daphne Keller, and Isabelle and Evangeline Gillison. He is also remembered with love by extended family, many dear friends, devoted patients, and all whose lives were touched by his quiet generosity.

He now rests with his parents, reunited in the eternal peace of God’s embrace.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, followed immediately by a Memorial Service at Davenport Family Funeral Home and Crematory, 419 E. Terra Cotta Ave. (Rte. 176), Crystal Lake, IL 60014. A private family burial will follow.
