James Jerome Spivey, age 73, passed away on July 14th, 2024, just after 3 pm.
Jerry was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, on the 26th of July. He spent his younger years running track and dreaming of going to North Carolina State University and then to LSU for his PhD in chemical engineering, both of which he would achieve. He enjoyed tennis, travel, family, and above all else his service to our Lord, Jesus Christ. As a professor of chemical engineering at LSU he was surrounded by the academic structure and inquisitive minds that he so deeply loved and cultivated in his over 20 years of service to his vocation.
He is survived by his wife of over 55 years Jane, his son Ryan, and his three grandchildren Katherine Parker and Jackson, and his brothers Greg and Stowe, and his sisters Dana and Karen, and all his loving nieces and nephews.
