Duane "DB" Broitzman, 81, of Owatonna, MN, passed away peacefully at his home on July 20, 2025.

Friends may greet the family from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday July 23, 2025, at the Brick Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna).

Born on June 24, 1944, DB was raised on the family farm east of Gordonsville, MN, a place that sparked his lifelong love of farming and machinery. He often fondly recalled growing up "two and a quarter miles east and a quarter mile north of Gordonsville" where he first fell in love with tractors-a passion that never left him.

DB was known for his deep love for family and friends, his zest for life, and his many adventures on the farm. He shared a special bond with his wife, Deb Broitzman, and together they raised a loving family. He leaves behind his children Dawn (Al Schmidt) Broitzman, Jeff (Cari) Broitzman, Kelly (Shane) Christensen, Jenny (Brandon Raske) Broitzman, Joni (Ray) Tolman, and Nikki (Dustin Eggum) Broitzman. His legacy also includes his cherished grandchildren James, Matt, Levi, Bryce, Evan, Hannah, Nathan, Abigail, Raegan, Madelyn, Hallie, Ethan, Ellie, Addie, Maycie, Brody, Emmett, and Declan, Ayden, and Alexa, as well as his great-grandchildren Bennett, Everett, Lane, Watson, and Colter. DB was also survived by his loving sisters Betty Broitzman, Marlene Nelson, and Carolyn Yocum, and his special cousin Gary (Paula) Broitzman.

Preceding him in death were his beloved parents Martin and Ingebor Broitzman, his brother-in-law David Nelson, his brother-in-law Ron Yocum, and his grandson Holden Broitzman.

In addition to farming, DB had a number of interests that made him unforgettable. He was a passionate fisherman and a loyal Minnesota Vikings fan, spending countless Sundays cheering (and occasionally yelling) at the TV. His favorite pastime, however, was being a friend to everyone. DB was everybody's best friend, and his infectious energy, humor, and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Whether it was fixing a tractor, telling a joke, or lending a helping hand, DB was always there, ready to make life better for those around him.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for DB on Saturday, Aug. 23rd, location and details of which will be shared at a later date. In the meantime, we invite everyone to reflect on their own fond memories of DB and share in the warmth and love that he so freely gave.
