David C. Broitzman

David C. "Dave" Broitzman, age 68, of East Dundee passed away peacefully surrounded by family under the care of JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington on Monday, November 7, 2016.

He was born in Elgin on September 5, 1948 and was the son of the late Harold & Jacqueline (nee Lawrence) Broitzman. Dave was a lifelong resident of the Dundee Elgin area and a 1966 graduate of Elgin High School. He worked in the death care industry for all of his professional career and was former40 year owner and operator of Broitzman Professional Cemetery Services, Co. Inc which has been involved in thousands of interments in Kane & McHenry Counties since it's inception.

Dave was a longtime faithful and active member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in East Dundee and served his church for many years as Properties Chairman. He also served as a Communion Assistant. Dave was a believer in Christian Education and was a longtime volunteer and supporter of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran School. He and Cindy were also longtime members of the Dundee Crown Booster Club and Were co-founders of the Charger 5000. Dave served an 8 year consecutive Presidency of the booster club. During his tenure, the board's efforts were responsible for lighting the Dundee-Crown Bowl. Most of all, Dave was a loyal and trusted friend. His death leaves a large void in many people's lives.

Survivors include his beloved wife and best friend of 49 years, Cynthia "Cindy" (nee Reko) whom he married on Nov. 11, 1967. His daughters, Elizabeth "Buffy" (Tim) Anderson and Emily (Mark) Christopherson. Dave is also survived by his 5 grandchildren all whom he adored and was very proud of, Madeline, MacKenzie, and Margaret Anderson and Gavin Charles, and Dylan Christopherson. Other survivors include his brother-in-law, Roger Reko; his brother and two sisters; as well as countless good and faithful friends.

In addition to his parents, Dave was preceded in death by his in-laws, Henry & Jane Reko; and brother-in-law, Dave Reko.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2016 at 11:30 A.M. at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church 310 E. Main St East Dundee with Rev. Phillip Baerwolf officiating. Burial will follow in the Dundee Twp. East Cemetery, East Dundee. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Miller Funeral Home, West Dundee and again on Friday morning at church from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
