Blissfield – Duane L. Kronberg died March 22, 2025, in his home after a lengthy illness. He didn't go easily. Duane gave every effort up till the very end. He came into this world kicking and screaming and he left with a fight. Would Duane ever have enough and call it quits? Nope, that wasn't his style or his competitive nature. You could never tell how competitive he was with his calm demeanor. Duane was born September 24, 1948, from the Union of Burton L. and Helen (Moore) Kronberg in Adrian Hospital. He grew up in the bustling metropolis of Jasper, MI. He was the son of a farming family. There was no question that Duane knew what hard work was. He went on to graduate from Sand Creek High School in 1966, at that time, he was known as "Butch". Duane honorably served his country in The United States Army. He entered April 1968 and was honorably discharged in April of 1970.
Upon his discharge Duane met the love of his life Barbara. She was a senior in high school. He was newly discharged from the Army. They soon married. From the Union of Duane and Barbara came 2 Children: Andrea (Brad) Piros of Hartland, MI. and Cheri (Justin Eisenmann) Kronberg. Sadly, Barbara died in 1986. He was truly smitten with Barbara's memory until the time of his death. Duane married Karen Kelley on February 21, 2018, in Clearwater, Florida, and she survives. Duane enjoyed coaching his daughter's softball teams through their early years. He could often be found bowling in various leagues in Blissfield. He enjoyed the sport traveling to many tournaments throughout the country.
He enjoyed watching all sports. His favorite team was the Detroit Tigers. It was the only time he showed deep anger when they would lose a game. Duane worked for 34 years for General Motors. First in their Adrian plant and then he transferred to Hydramatic plant in Toledo where he retired from in 2014. In addition to his wife Karen, Duane is survived by grandchildren, Ryan, Conor, Grace, and Ethan. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first love Barbara, and sister Vivian and brother-in-law Ken.
The family will receive friends for visitation at the Anderson-Rudd Funeral Home, Blissfield, on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, from 2:00 pm until the funeral service begins at 6:00 pm with Rev. William VanValkenburg will officiate. Duane will be laid to rest next to Barbara at Pleasant View Cemetery, Blissfield Privately. Memorial contributions can be made to the Lenawee Humane Society.
