Duane McRitchie

Duane B. McRitchie, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at Mayo in Rochester, MN on April 30, 2025.
Duane was born on June 23, 1963 to Bernard and Darlene (Nelson) McRitchie in Moorhead, MN. Duane was raised in Lisbon, ND. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1981. Duane married Debra Max on April 9, 1983. They later divorced but remained close until the time of his death.
Duane was known as a hard-working man, always going above and beyond what was expected of him. He began working for Welton Tire in Lisbon, ND while still in high school. In 1987 he moved to Hillsboro, ND to manage the Cenex Tire Store until it closed in 2000. He then worked a few different jobs, including Ferrellgas, Transystems and American Crystal Sugar. In 2011, Duane began working for Caterpillar Reman in West Fargo, ND, where he took a lot of pride in operating robotic welders. He remained there until the time of his death.
Duane enjoyed fishing/ice fishing, hunting, tinkering in the garage and spending time with his family. He loved teaching his grandkids these hobbies (especially tinkering in the garage). He was very proud of all his grandchildren; he loved to share stories and pictures of them with his friends and co-workers. He was the first to post pictures of their trophies and any special happenings.
Duane is survived by daughters, Kimberly and her children Hannah (Jay), Benjamin and Noah. Nikila and her children Caiden, Ellie and GraceLynn, all of Hillsboro, ND. Mother, Darlene of Lisbon, ND; sisters, Patricia of West Fargo, ND, Jody (Tim) Sommerfeld, Kristi (Todd) Odegard, both of Lisbon, ND; brother David (Stacey) of West Fargo, ND; nephews/niece: Matthew; Tyler, Jason (Carlie), Jared; Kyle (Stephanie), Kendra (Luke); Jr, Austin. Two great-nephews and one great-niece. Aunt Deb Schmidt; Friend Kathleen Hansen; and many cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Bernard. Uncle Bob McRitchie; several aunts, including Dorothy Belling and Donna Hagen; and friend Steve Max.
A celebration of life will be held at Woodland Park in Hillsboro, ND on Friday May 30, 2025 at 5pm.
A graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Lisbon, ND on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 2pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in Duane's memory.
