Duane Edwin Pflasterer

Duane Edwin Pflasterer, died peacefully at his home on August, 12, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on February 17, 1940, to Doris Mary (Hall) and Charles William Pflasterer in Winchester, Indiana. He graduated from high school in 1958, at McKinley School. After graduation he went to Ball State University for a year studying architecture. However, his first love was farming so he came back to his home and farmed with his brother. Duane was very witty and loved telling jokes some good, and some ornery! He loved cars and was a member of the High Gear's Car Club. He spent many a night with his friends working on cars and he loved every minute of it. He retired from farming and worked a while building houses with a friend. His hobbies were building Muzzle Loading Guns, and reading books on the history of all the wars from the Revolutionary war to the Civil War, WWI and WWII, and Korean and Viet Nam War. He was an expert on WWII. He loved going to reenactments of the Civil War and visiting the military war sites in Pennsylvania and Tennessee. He also was an avid reader and devoured books like they were candy.
In additions to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles ("Slim") Pflasterer; his daughter, Carrie Renee Wells Rush, and first granddaughter, Kylee Wells Rascon.
He leaves behind his wife, Stephanie, and grandchildren, Katelyn Dawn (Wells) McDaniel, husband Micah, Landon Scott Rush, Haydon Duane Rush, and son-in-law Scott Rush. He also has two great grandchildren, Karmen Jade Clevenger and Kash Ryan McDaniel.
A service to celebrate Duane's life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Compass Church in Winchester, Indiana, on State Road 32 East, with Adam Sewell officiating the service. Friends and family may call an hour before services on Thursday at the church.
Burial will be at the Fountain Park Cemetery at a later date.
We give thanks and praises to the Heart to Heart Hospice in Muncie, IN. They are wonderful people who made him comfortable in his last days. In lieu of flowers you may consider giving to the Wounded Warrior Project, Duane's favorite charity.
