Duane Reeder passed away on July 13, 2025. He lived a long life, full of happiness, laughter and generosity. He never met a stranger and always left you with a smile on your face.

He was born in Sydney Iowa to Floyd and Ellen Reeder on November 19, 1926. He grew up on a farm outside Farragut Iowa. Duane went to a one room schoolhouse, helped with chores around the farm and found plenty of mischief to get into. He Joined the Navy in 1944 and served on the USS North Carolina during WWII. His Battle Group helped liberate the Philippines, Leyte Gulf and Iwo Jima.

Duane attended school at Eastern Oregon University. He was also hired by the Union Pacific Railroad as a carpenter. He worked with the Railroad for 35 years. Retired in 1985 as a Bridge and Building Supervisor.

He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, sudoku and crossword puzzles. He loved people, young and old. He loved telling stories, truthful and not.

He is preceded in death by his wife Gertrude (Kirk), his son Curtis Michael, his parents Floyd and Ellen Reeder, His brother Laverne Reeder and sister Doris McClellan.

Duane is survived by his daughter Susan Harvey and son-in-law Larry Harvey, his life partner Peggy Jo Briles, his sister Marilyn Stewart and his daughter-in-law Barbara Reeder. He had numerous nieces, nephews and young people who just thought of him as "Dad"

Duane was the definition of a Life Well Lived. He is greatly missed by all.
