Duane Steffen

CONGERVILLE – Duane L. Steffen, 95, of Congerville, passed away February 7, 2026 at Eureka Apostolic Christian Home.

He was born February 15, 1930 in Roanoke to Charles Edward and Bena (Gudeman) Steffen. He married Lois E. Sauder on June 3, 1951. They shared 74 years together. She survives.

Also surviving are his children, Jim (Valerie) of Morton, Marilyn (Larry) Wettstein, of Eureka, Marge, Annie (Bruce) Martin, Myra (Joe) Wiegand, all of Congerville, and Jay (Melinda) of Carlock. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Jeff, Brad, Janel, Rex, Ross, Lana, Steffani, Josh, Nathan, Justin, Molly, Levi, Owen, Katy, and 16 great-grandchildren. He deeply loved and enjoyed his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed telling them stories. His nieces and nephews were also very special to him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Eldon, J.E. "Ed," Marvin, Phyllis, Jerry, Ida Mae, Lyle and Willis.

Duane was a farmer all his life in the Congerville and Carlock area. He loved giving hay rack, combine and tractors rides.

He had a sincere faith, loved and served the Lord, and was a member of the Congerville Apostolic Christian Church. He loved his church family, was friendly, welcoming, and never knew a stranger.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the Congerville Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Goodfield Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall. Further visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday, February 10, prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Goodfield-Congerville Apostolic Christian Cemetery in Congerville.
