Duane Wallen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brick-Meger Funeral Home on Feb. 24, 2026.
Duane Marlow Wallin age 91 passed away February 21, 2026, at the Mankato Hospital, Mankato, MN

Memorial service will be 2:00PM Saturday May 9, 2026, at the Brick Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna) with burial to follow at Owatonna Memorial Gardens. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the Funeral starting at 10:00 AM.

Duane was born in Comfry MN to Wilbert and Catherine (Artner) Wallin. He attended Mankato schools and graduated in 1951.

Duane was a talented tool and die machinist. He put this talent to use working for Truth Tool Company, this career found him moving from Mankato to Owatonna with the company in 1960, later retiring after 44 years with the company. He had many other talents, with a passion for his yard, flowers and feeding the birds. He also enjoyed antiquing and collecting, as well as, going for coffee with friends every day.

He loved telling a good joke wherever he went.

Duane shared a close connection with his brother Arvid (Barb), sisters Eunice, Diane, and Julie (Ken).

That close connection found them playing cards and having a good meal together weekly.

Duane leaves behind 8 children - 6 from his first marriage and 2 from his second marriage. He was a dad who loved his children and is survived by: Lori Frank (Mike Snow), Lynne Kofstad, Lavonne (Jack) Bjerk, Michael (Bethany) Wallin, Christine Johnson (Ken Schulte), David (Katherine) Wallin, Tina Wallin, Carrie Wallin, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, Brother Arvid (Barb Wallin, sisters Eunice Meixner, Diane Vosjepka, and Julie (Ken) Elliott.

Duane is preceded in death by his parents, brothers-in-law Vern Meixner and Rob Vosjepka, sons-in-law Fredrick Frank and David Kofstad, grandson Gabriel Kofstad, and special friend Genevieve (Punky) Robbins.

It is hard to put into words all the talents and accomplishments Duane (our dad) has achieved in his lifetime. Tell a good joke in his memory.
