Duane "Wes" Westenberg, 91, of St. Germain, WI, peacefully passed away and joined his beloved wife, Beverly, in heaven on Wednesday, October 2, 2024. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born in southwestern Minnesota on June 6, 1933 to James and Theresa Westenberg of Edgerton. Following high school, he was drafted and served in the Army during the Korean War. After receiving his honorable discharge, Duane attended and graduated from Central College in Pella, IA There he met the love of his life, Beverly Ann Peters. They were married on October 31st at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. The running joke between them was which one got tricked and which one treated.
Duane taught high school physical education, biology and health, as well as coaching multiple sports and refereeing football and basketball. Duane and Beverly were active members of Grace Reformed Church in Fond du Lac, WI, Conover Evangelical Church in Conover, WI and most recently, St. Germain Evangelical Free Church in St. Germain, WI. They loved the Lord and the many dear friends they made at church.
Duane enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also loved carpentry and built his dream house on Little St. Germain Lake, where he resided until 2 months before his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Beverly, sons Gary and Brad and is survived by son Mark (Terri) of Fond du Lac, WI, their daughter Julia of Peosta, IA and son Scott (Cheryl) of Green Bay, WI and their children, Kelsey of Chicago, IL, Danielle (Devin) and son, Westley of Rochester, MN and Chad of Salt Lake City, UT. He was very proud of his children, grandchildren and, most recently, a great grandson who stole his heart.
A memorial service will be at 2pm on Saturday October 12, 2024 at Northlife Church in St. Germain, WI. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
