Dudley King Obituary
Dudley was born in Brunswick County, NC on February 14, 1931, to the late Dudley Foster King Sr. and Otelia Edwards King. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased in death by his sister Jacqueline King Wigner and daughter Bettie Nadeen King.
Dudley is a 1950 graduate of Waccamaw High School in Ash, NC. He attended Campbell College in 1951 and then joined the U.S. Coast Guard serving from 1951 to 1954 stationed at Oak Island, NC. Dudley joined Ford Motor Company in 1954 working his entire career rising from an hourly employee to executive management at Ford's Norfolk Virginia Assembly Plant.
During his time at Ford, he helped found the Norfolk Assembly Employees (NAE) Federal Credit Union serving on its Board of Directors until his passing.
Dudley returned to retire in Brunswick County in 2000. During his retirement he was active in Calvary Baptist Church and the South Brunswick Islands Rotary Club.
Surviving is his wife of 73 years Iris Rae King, son Melton King (Serena), sister Bettie Formyduval, two grandchildren Ethan King (Laura) and Casey Hunter (Will) and two great-grandchildren Jeremiah James "JJ" Hunter and Lottie King. Also surviving, two nieces, Geniece McCullen (Ronald), Mary Gore (Jeff) and a nephew, Adam Formyduval.
Services will be conducted on Saturday, February 22, 2025, with visitation at 1:00pm followed by the funeral at 2:00pm at Calvary Baptist Church Shallotte, NC. Burial will follow in Brunswick Memorial Gardens in Shallotte.
The family wishes to thank his home health care team of Kay, Diane, and Carolina Neighbors Home Care (Sophia, LeeAnne, Yulie) for all their care. The compassionate care he received from Novant Brunswick Hospital, Dr. Smith his surgeon, Dr. Faircloth, and all the nurses and team members. We also want to thank the staff at Lower Cape Fear Life Care SECU Brunswick Hospice House for their compassionate care.

Dudley and Iris were our neighbor at Sunset. Always enjoyed talking to both of them. When my parents died, he mowed a path from our house to theirs. Told us we were always welcomed. This warmed our hearts. That is Dudley. A kind, sweet man. We will miss him. Terry Banks
