Dutch J. Mobbs entered into the presence of God on April 1, 2025 in El Paso, TX. He went to join his beloved wife, Barbara Lee LeBlanc Mobbs in heaven where she has been with Jesus since November 16, 2010.
Dutch was the son of Naomi Christine Callahan Mobbs and Dutch Allen Mobbs. He was born on August 9, 1927 in Wapanuka, Oklahoma where he spent his childhood. His family moved to El Paso during his high school years and Dutch graduated from El Paso High School where he had been active in music and track. After high school and working as a mechanic, Dutch joined the Coast Guard and served in action during WWII in the South Pacific. After serving his country, Dutch attended New Mexico State University, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was also a graduate of the Alexander Hamilton's School of Business.
Dutch traveled all over the Southwest with his occupations, which included home building, cotton ginning, auto mechanics, cowboy, railroad mechanic, oil and gas construction, before his main career of 30 years as an Engineer for El Paso Natural Gas Company, where he rose to the position of Chief Engineer for EPNG, After retirement he became a realtor and then chose to travel with his bride, the love of his life.
Dutch says he knew Barbara LeBlanc was to be his wife the moment he first saw her. They were married on November 28, 1952. They had a wonderful life treasuring each other and helping to fulfill each other's dreams and ambitions. They both loved Cloudcraft, NM and built their dream cabin, where some of their most treasured moments in life were made. They were a fearsome doubles team in tennis, bike enthusiasts, and music makers., They were both dedicated to serving God and loved sharing their musical talents for His Glory, Dutch was active in golf, Lion's Club, his EPNG Retirees group and his church, serving as Chairman of the Deacons while residing in Jal, New Mexico. He also was a great storyteller, unofficial historian, and comedian/jokester.
Dutch was preceded in heaven by his mother, Naomi, father, Dutch, sisters, Evelyn and Dorothy, daughter, Bonnie Eloise, and granddaughter, Tara LaShay. He is survived by his son Allen Mobbs of Spring, Texas, his daughter, Belinda Wiens of Gilbert, Arizona, and his sister Joann (Polly) Haggard of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by Grandchildren Branson Wiens, Landon Wiens, Jessica (Mobbs) Castro, Shawna Mobbs, Megan Mobbs, and four great grandchildren.
Dutch's greatest achievements were in his roles as a loving husband, father, son, caring brother, uncle, friend, boss, coworker, and neighbor. He has left a deep imprint on the lives he touched. He will be missed, cherished, and lovingly remembered. He would not want us to be sad, but to share our treasured memories of his 97 years on this earth, and rejoice that he is with his Savior and reunited with his family that preceded him.
We pray you celebrate his life with us in remembering your own journey with him and his smile, laughter and love.
His Celebration of Life will be held at 9:00am on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Coronado Baptist Church, 501 Thunderbird Dr., El Paso, TX 79912. His Graveside Service will follow at 2:30pm at James Canyon Cemetery, 2538 US-82, Cloudcroft, NM 88317.
