Dwayne L. Anderson, age 81 passed away Tuesday, August 19th, 2025 at his home with loved ones present.
Dwayne was born to Julius and Florence (Frost) Anderson on November 1, 1943 on the Anderson family farm in rural Lansing, Minnesota. While growing up, Dwayne attended the District 30 Joint Taylor country school. On May 25, 1958, Dwayne was confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. Dwayne graduated from Blooming Prairie High School in 1961. Dwayne began working for Wilson Foods in 1963. He was a dedicated employee transitioning through several ownerships thru 2001. Dwayne greatly enjoyed the relationships he built during these times. He loved to visit with people and hear and tell stories (fiction and non-fiction). Dwayne loved being busy and was able to work with local farmers as well. On June 15, 1963, Dwayne was united in marriage to Kathleen Louise Stark at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Kathleen passed January 30th, 1967. In later years, Dwayne met his significant partner, Carolyn Schutz. For 30+ years, the two of them kept each other busy traveling in all directions.
Over the years, Dwayne was a member of the Albert Lea Moose Club, Albert Lea Eagles Club, and the Albert Lea Elks Club. Carolyn and Dwayne enjoyed decorating at the Eagles and dancing to local band favorites. Dwayne's passion was restoring antique tractors, primarily Farmall Tractors. He frequently participated in parades, tractor rides, and thrashing field days with friends and family. Dwayne greatly enjoyed spending time with his siblings over breakfast, dinner, or coffee. Frequent visits to Deer Creek Speedway and Lansing dirt track was a weekend event enjoyed with family and friends on a regular basis. Enjoying root beer floats under the maple tree enjoying the simple pleasures of life was how he rolled. Very seldom could you find Dwayne in the house and if you did you could catch him playing cards. Dwayne had a contagious smile and courteous hand shake for everyone. Dwayne adored his grandsons each having a special place in his heart. Dwayne was always available to pick his "two favorities" up and make sure a trip to the donut store and Fleet Farm for an implement toy was in route. Words cannot express how he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dwayne is survived by his daughter, Shari Hanson (Brian) and their two sons: Thor and Noah (Meghan Erickson); his significant other Carolyn Schutz and her two sons: Mike and Mark Schutz; and sibling Russell (Linda) Anderson. He was proceeded in death by his wife Kathleen, parents, Julius and Florence, brothers, Nathan, Kenneth, Lyle, and Rueben; sisters Jean Huemann and Karen Kinny and nine half brothers and sisters.
His family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to all who have supported Dwayne's fight with Parkinson's Disease 20 + years and the special staff at St. Croix Hospice and Sylvia who enabled Dwayne to enjoy the comforts of home.
A visitation to remember and celebrate Dwayne's life will be held on Monday, August 25th from 5PM until 7PM at Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Services, 2210 East Main Street, Albert Lea.
