Dwayne Rhodes, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at the age of 59. He was born on January 8, 1966, in Marietta, GA.

A proud graduate of Cherokee High School's Class of 1987. After graduation, he began attending the Cherokee Training Center on February 22, 1988. In 2018, Dwayne started working at McDonald's, where he enjoyed everyone.

Dwayne was a devoted member of Rock of Ages Baptist Church, he loved his church. He enjoyed video games and was an avid wrestling fan. The Special Olympics held a special place in his heart, and he always enjoyed participating.

Dwayne was loving, happy, caring, giving, and the sweetest soul. He left a profound impact on everyone he encountered. His legacy is not only in the joy he spread or the resilience he showed in the face of adversity, but also in the way he taught us all the true meaning of kindness and compassion through his every action.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlis and Flossie Rhodes and Al and Laura Killian.

Dwayne is survived by his parents, Trammel and Joann Rhodes; sister, Missy Moore (Tim); nephews, Garrett Smith (Morgan) and Cameron Eaton; great-nieces, Darby Smith and Oaklyn Smith; as well as aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel with Rev. Thomas Shipman and Rev. Steve Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, September 13th from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 14th from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour. Interment will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 15, 2025 at Liberty Hill Church Cemetery in Blairsville, Georgia.

Flowers will be accepted or in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Cherokee Special Olympics at www.cherokeeso.com
