Dwayne Miller Tharpe, age 61, of Chase City, Virginia, passed away at his home on Saturday, June 1, 2024. He was born May 13, 1963 in Halifax County, Virginia.

At an early age, he was baptized and became a member of First Christian Church in Chase City, Virginia. In his later years, he attended Salem United Methodist Church in Chase City, Virginia where he married the love of his life on April 14, 1984.

He was the son of the late Reuben Miller Tharpe and the late Virginia Reese Tharpe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vickie Tharpe Moss.

Dwayne is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Anne Coleman Tharpe. They had two daughters, Taylor Anne Tharpe and Morgan Louise Tharpe. He is also survived by three loving sisters-in-law, Brenda C. Hite of Nelson, VA, Susan C. King (Ricky) of New Kent, VA and Tina C. Almond (Tim) of Oak Ridge, NC; numerous nieces and nephews; and his life long friend, Jeff Moore of Chase City, Virginia.

Dwayne was employed at John H. Kerr Dam as an Operator. He was always there for his girls and coached little league softball for over 20 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed being in his shop, hunting, playing golf, spending time with his family and spending lots of weekends with his daughters and their college friends that he considered his own.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dr. Michael Blythe officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery in Chase City, Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions in Dwayne’s memory to Salem United Methodist Church, 13550 Highway 47, Chase City, Virginia 23924.
