Samuel Bugg, 100, of Clarksville, Virginia passed away on Friday, January 16, 2026 at his home. He was born September 3, 1925 in Chase City, Virginia and is the son of the late Richard Bugg and the late Cora Ware Bugg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Dortch Bugg; brothers, John Bugg, R. Pickett Bugg, Carlton Bugg, Whitney Bugg, and Tommy Bugg; sisters, Marjorie Blakeney and Ethel Harris; and son-in-law, Harrell Bagbey.
Sam is survived by his four children, Larry Bugg (Joy) of Midlothian, VA, Yvonne Bugg Allgood (Michael) of Chase City, VA, Sandra Bugg Bagbey of Clarksville, VA, and Chris Bugg (Kathy) of Chesterfield, VA; eight grandchildren, Kevin Bagbey, Patrick Bagbey (Laurie), David Allgood (Jessica), Kristin Dulaney (Dale), Taylor Bugg (Joey), Shawn Bugg, Stephen Bugg (Rosie), and Kim Call (Dean); and fourteen great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and his devoted caregivers, Marjorie and Deborah.
He is a United States Navy Veteran and honorably served his country in World War II. He was a long time member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Chase City. He was a 60 year member of the Chase City Lions Club, member of the VFW Post 8228 and member of the American Legion Post 43. Sam was an entrepreneur and a "jack of all trades.” He was the owner and operator of an independent grocery store in Chase City for many years and owner of Bugg’s Campground in Clarksville.
Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Newcomb Allgood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Blythe officiating. Interment with Military Honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard will follow the service at Woodland Cemetery in Chase City. The family will receive family and friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
