Dwight Samuel Hendrick, 89, died Saturday, December 9, 2023. Born in Cleveland County on May 5, 1934, he was the son of the late Stowe and Florence Hendrick. He was a member of Drury Dobbins Baptist Church.
Dwight was a hard worker and farmer, and he loved the land. In his later years Dwight was not able to work but he enjoyed driving his side-by-side to the pastures watching his family work cattle, cut hay, and cut corn, wheat and soybeans. He supervised from the sidelines and made sure the job was done right. The joy of his life was his great-grandchildren. He always had candy to give out and he loved watching them play.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Scruggs Hendrick and his precious daughter, Sandra Hendrick Ware; his sister Betty Lou Crowder; and brother Dean Hendrick.
Dwight is survived by his daughter Kathy Davis and husband Steve; his son-in-law Scott Ware and wife Myra; sister-in-law, Linda Hendrick; his grandchildren, Daniel Davis and wife Jennifer, Jered Ware, Mary Walker and husband Jonathan, Ryan Ware and wife Anna; and great-grandchildren, Della, Adalynn, and John Daniel Davis; Lewis, Annabeth, Nehemiah and Jemima Walker; Hunter, Hendrick, Hudson Ware, and baby Ware due in January.
Dwight is also survived by many dear friends at Double Springs Baptist Church, Drury Dobbins Baptist Church and in the Lattimore/Mooresboro community.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00pm Thursday, December 14, 2023, at Drury Dobbins Baptist Tabernacle with the Rev. Ronald Roberts officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30pm – 3:00pm prior to the service.
