Dwight Myers Lambert, 86, of Ridgeley, WV, passed away peacefully at home on August 9, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born June 10, 1939, in Wiley Ford, WV, "Casey" was the son of the late Harold Myers Lambert and Lucy Naomi Lambert. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Elwood W. Lambert, a sister Bernice Swartz, and brothers-in-law Joe Swartz, Jerry Twigg, and Roy Miller.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Betty J. (Shepherd) Lambert, Ridgeley; two daughters Cathy Ross and husband Steve, Ridgeley, and Lisa Lambert, Fort Ashby; two granddaughters Amber Myers and husband Harry, Fairmont, and Andrea O'Dell and husband Andrew, Berkeley Springs; two great-grandsons Charles Myers and Samantha, Ridgeley, and Joel Myers and MacKenzie, Ohio; two-great granddaughters Danica O'Dell and Gabe and Novella O'Dell, Berkeley Springs; a great-great granddaughter Ellie Mae Myers, Ridgeley, and Loralei Kay Myers, expected November 2025.
Also surviving are his siblings, sisters Wilma Twigg, Virginia; Phyllis Litton and husband Eddie, Fort Ashby; Brenda Miller, Cumberland; Karen Jewell and husband Rick, Wiley Ford; brother Frank Lambert and wife Lynn, Virginia, an uncle Bud Thompson of Ohio, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also surviving are a brother-in-law Joseph R. Shepherd and wife Donna of Parsons and a special niece Carolyn Sherman of Eglon.
Dwight was a 1957 graduate of Ridgeley High School, where he was All-PVC in football in 1956. He also received the Ridgeley Lions Club Citizenship Award in 1957.
He was employed by the Kelly Springfield Tire Company in
Cumberland, MD from 1958 until his retirement as the Vice President of Purchasing in 1999. After his retirement, he served on the Carpendale Town Council and as the Mayor of Carpendale for three terms.
A lifelong member of Wiley Ford Covenant Brethren Church, Dwight served as Board Chair, Deacon, Chairman of the Church Board of Ministries, Sunday School Superintendent, basketball coach, and member of the outreach committee. He was also instrumental in the development of the new church parking lot, which was dedicated in his honor on Aug. 3, 2025. He was the first Vice President (and later President) of the Ridgeley Lions Club, active in the County United Fund campaign, and a member of the Maplehurst Country Club. He was also a President of the Mineral County Development Authority and served on the Board of Directors for the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. A proud member of the Ridgeley Old Fart's Club, he was also a devoted fan of Frankfort Falcon football.
Casey loved spending time at his camp on the South Branch, gardening, singing in the church choir, and spending time with his family.
Friends will be received at the Wiley Ford Covenant Brethren Church, 22 Springfield St. Wiley Ford, on Wednesday August 13, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. and Thursday August 14, 2025 from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. A Funeral service will be conducted at the church on Thursday August 14, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Ken Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
