E. Irene Shaffer, 89, passed away on December 11, 2021 at St. Francis Nursing Home in Tiffin.
Irene was born on August 1, 1932 to the late Ward and Audra LaVaughn (Iles) Rosenberger. Irene was a 1950 graduate of Old Fort High School.
She married Thomas Shaffer, her high school sweetheart in Tiffin on July 1, 1950 and they were together for almost 68 years. Irene was preceded in death by Thomas on March 25, 2018, her parents, and three sisters: Audra Johnson, Doris DuMond and Mary Jo Flickinger.
Survivors include two daughters, Susan (Jerry Young) Shaffer of Old Fort and Terie (Mark) Krupp of Tiffin. Irene's grandchildren are, Jeff (Julie) Huber, Reini (Mike) Chipman and Zachary (Dr. Neetu Cheema) Krupp. Her great grandchildren are, triplets Alanee, Brock and Chase, their sister, Alivia Huber and Nash Chipman. Irene has a surviving sister, Shirley "SAM" Masur of Green Springs.
Irene worked at home supporting her loving husband and daughters. She enjoyed traveling, antiquing, going to garage sales, watching hot air balloons, the Clydesdale horses and dressing up for the holidays. Spending time with her family was very important, especially with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff and volunteers at St. Francis Nursing Home for taking care of Irene and making her feel at home and comfortable.
Irene requested that there be no funeral service. The Engle-Shook Funeral Home & Crematory in Tiffin is assisting the family with their arrangements.
