Earl Julius Fay, 98, of Cocoa, FL, passed away October 6, 2025.
Earl was born February 20, 1927, to August G. and Minnie E. (Wheatley) Fay in Tell City, IN. After attending Elmhurst College, he returned to Tell City to work at General Electric. While working at GE, he met the love of his life, Frances "Kathleen" Early, whom he married on June 30, 1952. The couple enjoyed square dancing, euchre, and raising several dachshunds. They shared 55 years together before her passing in 2007.
Earl retired from GE after 37 years and the couple moved to Cocoa, FL. He loved tending to his flowers, visiting with friends, watching HGTV and sports, and playing chicken foot and board games. He enjoyed cooking meals for friends and family and did so well into his 90s.
Earl was a lifelong follower of Jesus Christ and former member of the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Tell City where he sang in the choir, was a member of the budget and finance committees, and served as the treasurer. In Florida, he attended First United Methodist Church of Port St. John where he served in the food pantry and on the finance committee.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews including Lea (Tim) Deisher, Lari (Rob) Procunier, Gary Fay, David Early, Debbie Killon, Geralyn Boyle; great-niece/goddaughter Jan (Kent) Gerbers, great-nieces/nephews Cole Deisher, Candace (Ross) Chapman, Daniel Procunier, Eric (Jessi) Procunier, Forrest Early, and Jessica Early.
Earl was preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, his parents, and his brothers, Paul, Ralph, Raymond, and James Fay.
Earl's friendships bridged many generations, and his beloved friends became his family. Friends Sue & Emil Baiocco, Curtis & Christine Ferrell, Keith & Ashley Taylor, "Bicycle Bob", and his friends at the Country Cookin' Diner ensured he was included in holiday gatherings, well fed, and deeply loved during his years in Florida. Special gratitude to his caregivers Thalia, Grace, & Dawnell, the Hospice team, and friends Glenn & Karen Wicker.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at Zoercher-Gillick Funeral Home in Tell City, IN. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time.
Memorial contributions may be made to a favorite charity in Earl's name.
