Richard "Dick" Inskeep

Richard Inskeep, 89, passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, in Elmhurst, Illinois. A lifelong resident of the Chicago area, Dick-as he was affectionately known-was a man of deep commitment to his family, community, and country.
Born on June 9, 1936 alongside his identical twin brother, Ron, in Chicago, Illinois, Dick grew up with a strong sense of purpose and service. He and his brother enlisted in the United States Navy in 1954 and both served aboard the U.S.S. Angler, a silent submarine that played a vital role during their years of service. His dedication to his country remained a point of pride throughout his life and was honored when he participated in an Honor Flight in 2023.
Dick's pursuit of knowledge led him to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from Elmhurst College. He continued his education with an MBA from Northwestern University and later earned a JD from John Marshall Law School. These academic achievements laid the foundation for a distinguished professional life.
In 1988, Dick opened his own law practice where he focused on real estate and estate planning. His legal career was marked by integrity and diligence, earning him the trust of clients and colleagues alike. His work helped countless individuals navigate some of life's most important decisions with clarity and confidence.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dick was deeply involved in civic life. Soon after leaving the Navy he volunteered as a fireman for the Glenbard Fire Department. Always quick to raise his hand, Dick could be found serving as a Trustee for Elmhurst Memorial Hospital, Foundation Board Member at Endeavor Hospital, Chairman of the Elmhurst Economic Development Corporation, and was involved with Elmhurst College Alumni Cabinet. His commitment to public service reflected his belief in giving back to the community that had given him so much.
It was at the Elmhurst skating rink where Dick met Marietta, who would become his beloved wife. Their shared journey was filled with love and partnership. Together they raised two children: their son John (Julie); and their daughter Karen Hagan (Brian). Dick is also survived by five grandchildren: Jaimi Tuttle (Ryan), Liam, Teague, Keeley, and Renny Hagan.
Dick had an extraordinary ability to connect with people. Known for being involved in everything around him, he made friends wherever he went and left lasting impressions on those fortunate enough to know him. His warmth, humor, and generosity enriched every room he entered.
