Earl Gentry Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Minor-Morris Funeral Home, Ltd. on Feb. 14, 2026.
Earl Gentry Jr.

October 18, 1957 – January 6, 2026

Earl Gentry Jr. was born on October 18, 1957, in Hammond, Indiana, to the late Earl Gentry Sr. and Annie Mae Gentry. In 1960, his family relocated to Joliet, Illinois, where Earl was raised and educated.

At an early age, Earl was baptized in Jesus' name and received the gift of the Holy Ghost at the Church of the Holy Ghost in Joliet, Illinois. His faith remained an important part of his life.

Earl attended local grade schools and was a proud graduate of Joliet East High School. He later served his country honorably in the United States Army Corps, receiving an honorable discharge for his faithful service.

More than 15 years ago, Earl made Georgia his home. He had a deep love for music, especially playing the guitar and keyboard. Gospel music held a special place in his heart, and one of his greatest desires was to publish a beginner's instructional book to help others learn to play gospel music.

On January 6, 2026, Earl passed away peacefully at his home in Georgia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl Gentry Sr. and Annie Mae Gentry; one son, Robert Earl Gentry; and one sister, Delores Gentry.

He leaves to cherish his memory his children: Earl Gentry III, Denise Gentry, and Janelle Williams; his siblings: Willie D. Hayes (Janis), Elma Perdue, and Aqua M. Wright (Allen); along with a host of relatives and friends who will truly miss him.

Earl will be laid to rest at Georgia National Cemetery on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 10:00 a.m.

Rest well, Earl, until we meet again
