Earl Loyd Hollingsworth, a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, entered his final sleep on September 7th, 2025, at 2:10pm, at the age of 82. After a long and courageous battle with health issues, he has now joined his beloved wife, Jane Hollingsworth, in heaven.

Born on May 27, 1943, in Lincoln, Alabama, to Thomas and Tempe Hollingsworth, Earl was raised on a family farm. This upbringing instilled in him a powerful work ethic and a drive to succeed. A testament to his determination and brilliant mind, he put himself through college and graduated with a degree in mathematics.

Earl's career was defined by extraordinary dedication and service. He began in the U.S. Army, where he achieved the rank of Captain working on missile guidance systems at the White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. His expertise then took him to NASA at Cape Canaveral, Florida, where he was part of the groundbreaking Apollo moon launch project, helping to guide humanity's journey to the stars. Following his time with NASA, he embarked on a distinguished 30-year career with BellSouth/AT&T developing the Data Leap Project that brought the company into the digital age, from which he retired in 2020.

In his personal life, Earl was a man of simple pleasures and deep devotion to his family. He found great joy in playing golf and dedicating his time to various home projects. He was a constant source of guidance and support for his loved ones and will be deeply missed.

He is survived by his children, his son Brad Hollingsworth (Shonda), step-children Jason McKinney (Kelly) and Tammi Lodge; his grandchildren, Ashlyn Lazenby (Will), Ty Hollingsworth, Cody McKinney, Nick McKinney, John Daniel Moss, Gabrielle Moss, Cheyli McCausland; his siblings, Joan Willamon and Lawrence Hollingsworth; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Earl will be remembered for his kind heart, sharp intellect, and unwavering love for those around him.

The family will receive friends at a visitation on September 11th, 2025, from 12:30 to 2:00 pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home in Griffin, GA. No formal service will be held.
