Earl Jamieson, Jr., 86, died on April 1, 2025 at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House.
He was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 10, 1938, the son of Earl Jamieson, Sr. and Edith (Townsend) Binette.
He graduated from Thornton Academy in 1957 and married his high school sweetheart, Lucille Pothier on June 14, 1958, at Notre Dame de Lourdes Church in Saco.
He was a member of the Maine & Connecticut National Guards from 1954 to 1964. He was a part of Saco Company B, 103rd Infantry. He was a member of the City of Saco Police Department from 1959 to 1987. He rose through the ranks from Patrolman to Captain. When he retired in 1987, he had been the Criminal Bureau Commander since 1972. He was also a Deputy Sheriff in York and Cumberland Counties from 1978 to 1987 and Oxford County from 1978 to 1981.
In August of 1989, he was hired at Sweetser Children's Services where he served in different capacities. When he retired in 2008, he had served his last 5 years as night family and youth councilor as the Saco Crisis Unit.
He played Semi-Pro football for the Portland Sea Hawks from 1963-1966. In the 80's, he coached his sons Dan and Dave on the Semi-Pro team, the Maine Lions. He coached Thornton Academy Football (Defensive Coordinator) from 1963-1965. Mr. Jamieson was a volunteer boys and girls basketball and baseball coach at Notre Dame School for many years.
He was a 2 term President of the Notre Dame de Lourdes School Board and a 3 term (1981-1984) President of the T.A. Boosters Club. Along with the Saco Rec Department, he was instrumental in establishing the Saco Pee Wee Football League. He also coached and umpired for several years.
Earl is predeceased by his wife Lucille; his son Daniel; and his sister Carole Morin.
He is survived by his daughter Donna Durfee of Wells, ME; son David Jamieson and wife Jennifer of Tampa, Florida; sister Gail Stephens of Old Orchard Beach, ME; daughter in law Michelle Jamieson of Biddeford, ME; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford, ME 04005. A Funeral Mass will be held at Most Holy Trinity Church in Saco on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 11:00 am with burial to follow in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
