Earl D. Mintz, 80, of Gibsonburg, passed away February 11, 2024, at Bethesda Care Center in Fremont. He was born in Fremont on February 19, 1943, to Vernon and Alma (Damschroder) Mintz. Earl was a 1962 graduate of Gibsonburg High School. He served for two years in the United States Army as well as two years in the reserves during the Vietnam War.
Following his service in the military, Earl began a career as an auto worker for Chrysler in Perrysburg, working hard for many years until his retirement.
Earl was a fan of all types of racing and often spent time at the Fremont Speedway, especially to support his nephew in the sprint car races. He loved motorcycles but was also a collector of classic cars. Over the years Earl owned around 70 cars and spent countless hours restoring each of them.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Aaron (Lora) Mintz; grandchildren, Garrett and Grace Mintz and Jacob and Joseph Schrader; nephews, Kirk and Dan Mintz, Troy Fairbanks, Craig Mintz; siblings, Kent (Diane) Mintz of Risingsun, Marcia (Gene) Biroth of Angola, IN, Les (Cathi Smith) Mintz of Gibsonburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Herman-Veh Funeral Home & Crematory, 319 W. Madison Street, Gibsonburg, OH, 43431. Additional visiting will be held Friday, February 16, 2024, beginning at 10:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 AM. For those unable to attend, live-streaming of services will be available by following the link on Earl's obituary page.
