Earl Stephens Obituary

Earl Dean Stephens, a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2026, in Gulf Shores, Alabama. He was born on February 27, 1935, in Stearns, Kentucky, and lived a life characterized by hard work, faith, and unwavering love for his family.

Earl dedicated a significant part of his career as a high power lineman in Dayton, Ohio, where he became known for his exceptional work ethic and commitment to safety. His professional life was a testament to his tenacity and skill, which earned him the respect of his peers and the community he served.

A proud veteran, Earl served in the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. His time stationed in Alaska provided him with unique experiences and a deep sense of duty that he carried throughout his life. His commitment to service extended beyond military obligations; he also engaged in missionary work, where he took great pride in building hospitals with partners in the United Arab Emirates.

Earl was a faithful member of Patterson Park Church in Dayton, Ohio, where he found a strong sense of community and belonging. His character was defined by loyalty and kindness, and he was deeply respected and loved by those who knew him.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Sandy Jackson (husband David), and his cherished grandchildren Aaron Jackson (wife Christina), Mary Clifford (husband Matthew), Kaitlyn Stephens and Bradley Stephens along with his great granddaughters, Isabelle Jackson and Reese Jackson. Earl’s legacy continues through them, reflecting the values he instilled and the love he gave.

Earl is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phyllis Stephens; his sons, Daniel Stephens (wife Karen) and Thomas Stephens; and his parents, Oda and Lucy Mae Stephens. Each of these relationships shaped Earl's life, contributing to the warm and loving man he became.

There will be a private graveside service.

As we remember Earl Dean Stephens, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by dedication to family, faith, and community. His memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege to know him.
