Earlyn Trexel Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Pittsburgh Cremation & Funeral Care - Robinson Township on Feb. 3, 2026.
Earlyn Trexel, age 82, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 18, 2026, at Asbury Heights Memory Care Center in Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania. She was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on May 30, 1943 to the late Earl W. and Mary E. Albine (née Joyce). Earlyn lived most of her adult life in her family home at 426 Westland Drive, Greensburg, PA.

Earlyn is survived by her beloved husband John "J.D." Trexel, with whom she shared a beautiful life and celebrated 60 years of marriage in June of 2025. J.D. devoted the final years of their life together to her care, a testament to their deep love and partnership.

Earlyn graduated from Elizabeth Forward High School in 1961 and went on to Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in 1965. After college, Earlyn taught high school English at Norwin High School prior to beginning a family. She was a loving mother to Jennifer D. Trexel and Jeremy D. Trexel (Alison), and a proud grandmother to Zoe E. Trexel, who adored her time with her Nana, often involving baking or reading in bed until well past her normal bedtime. Earlyn was also devoted to her twin sister Marilyn Pocorus, who preceded her in death. In addition to her immediate family, Earlyn is survived by her nephew, Grady Pocorus and niece, Christie Bailey, and her lifelong friend, Nancy Miller.

Earlyn gave amply of herself to her family and close friends, often putting others' needs or desires before her own. Earlyn's patient support, gentle insight, wisdom, and intellect were a source of strength to all those whom she held close. Earlyn had a special connection to animals, especially her children's dogs and horses. She treated them as her own, always serving as a loving and thoughtful caregiver. Earlyn's eternal optimism was reflected in her frequent bedtime expression to her family, "Happy face in the morning!"
