Robert Dora Obituary

Visit the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home - Jefferson Hills website to view the full obituary.

Robert "Bob" Dora, a master storyteller and lifelong resident of the area, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026. He resided in Finleyville, Pennsylvania and was formerly of Elizabeth Township, Pennsylvania. Bob was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on July 15, 1952, a son of Joseph and Marie Julia (Potersnak) Dora.

Bob is survived by his daughter, Whitney Dora; his nephew, Jason (Katie) Coulter and their daughter, Emma; and his significant other of 20 years, Debbie Reilley. He is also survived by his extended family: Nicole (William) Dosey, and Greg (Thea) Reilley and their daughter, Eliza. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Joe Dora; and his sister, Karen Coulter.

A 1970 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, Bob was a dedicated professional who retired from the Eastman Chemical Plant, in Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania, after more than 35 years of service. He was an active member of the community, belonging to the Stephen Bayard Masonic Lodge #526 in Elizabeth, Pennsylvania, the McKeesport Sportsman’s Association, and the Finleyville Moose.

Bob was a true adventure seeker who simply could not sit still. Whether he was flying in a P-51 Mustang Airplane, scuba diving in abandoned rock quarries, or frequently testing the speed limits in one of his beloved sports cars, he lived life with the engine wide open.

He found great peace in travel, particularly to his favorite destination, Sint Maarten. Whether he was relaxing on the beach with a cold drink in his hand or watching military aircraft videos at home, Bob lived by the motto: "Life is good today!" Above all, Bob loved being surrounded by family and friends. He was a master storyteller—and as his loved ones know well, if you never heard one of his stories, you didn't truly know Bob.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, February 26, 2026 from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8pm in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025 (412-384-0350) www.stephendslater.com. Bob will have a Masonic Service in the funeral home at 7pm Thursday evening and his funeral service will be on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 11am in the funeral home with the Reverend Jude Urso officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations and memorial gifts be given to The Epilepsy Association of Western and Central PA (EAWCP) https://www.eawcp.org or the Elrama Community Church, 19 Ramage Avenue, Elrama, Pennsylvania 15038. https://www.elramacommunitychurch.com/give.
