Leonard Edwin "Ed" Glidden age 73, of Caldwell, OH passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at OhioHealth Doctors Hospital in Columbus, OH. He was born February 26, 1952 in Canton, OH, son of the late Robert and Helen Dyer Glidden.
He served and protected his nation with the United States Army in the Vietnam War. Ed was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church in Caldwell. He enjoyed spending time working in his garage and camping. Ed was happiest when he was surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters Sue Davis and infant Shirley Ann Glidden.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Diane L. Smicklas Glidden, whom he married May 10, 1977; son Thomas (Nancy) Glidden of Pleasant City, OH and daughter Angela Fleeman of Marietta, OH; grandchildren Daisey Reed, Katelyn (Nika) Puntushashvili, Patience Glidden, and Cyrus Saling; a grandson he lovingly raised as his own son, Jason Fleeman; brother Robert (Cynthia) Glidden of Caldwell; two sisters Marilyn Gildow and Marlena "Sis" Glidden both of Caldwell; his dogs and companions Brooklyn, Zoey, and Baxter. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday, July 11, 2025 at 11:00 AM in the St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1036 Belford Street, Caldwell, OH 43724, with Rev. Father Thomas Nelson serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Caldwell, OH with military graveside honors conducted by the Noble County Veteran Service Organizations. Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724 has been entrusted to care for the family.
