West Gardiner-Joseph Robert Glidden, 62, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 following a long illness. Joseph was born on November 7, 1962, in Winthrop, ME the son of the late Robert Glidden and Barbara Lanphier. He was a man of strong character, and dedicated worker for the town of West Gardiner. His life was a testament to the power of resilience, kindness, and an unwavering love for the simpler things in life.

Joe spent his professional life serving the town of West Gardiner as a Transfer Station Attendant, a role he dutifully fulfilled until his retirement. At work, Joe was known for his punctuality, commitment, and the contagious smile he always wore on his face. He was a lover of nature, and in his spare time, he was an avid fisherman and a passionate hunter. Joehad a unique hobby of scraping metal, a testament to his hardworking nature and his ability to find joy in the simplest of tasks. His friends were an integral part of his life, and the moments he spent with them were among his most cherished.

Joe was predeceased by a sister, Susan Gaboury and a brother, Steven Gaboury. He is survived by his son, Matthew Glidden of West Gardiner, who was his pride and joy. His love for Matthew was deep, wholehearted, and unwavering. Two brothers, Gary Gaboury and Russell Glidden; several nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service celebrating Jospeh's life will be held at the Cherry Hill Cemetery, West Gardiner on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at 11:00am. Arrangements and guidance are under the direction of the Staples Funeral Home, 53 Brunswick Avenue, Gardiner, ME.
