Ed Lee Oliver Jr. departed from us on earth and landed straight into the arms of Christ on Monday November 17th, 2025 at the age of 65. In the moment of passing, he was at peace.
At an early age, Ed made a profession of faith for Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He rededicated his life to Christ while living in Mississippi where he became a devoted follower of Christ and Deacon of his church. Ed knew the faithfulness of God and the power in His name. Although many health complications flooded his path in his final years of life, Ed persevered and praised Jesus through the hard seasons. It is without a doubt that we can be assured Ed is now walking upright without pain or struggles along side our Lord in heaven.
Ed is survived by his wife, Linda Dempsey Oliver of
Kenai, AK; two children, Dr. Ashlee Oliver-Frey (Ben) and Joanna Oliver Walls (Craig), and three grandchildren: EllaDove, LeviColm, and BoDutton Walls.
Also surviving him are his mother, Alice Brown Oliver of Jackson, AL, and two sisters Stephanie Hutchinson of Jackson, AL and Lori Oliver of Daphne, AL.
Preceding him in death was his father Ed Lee Oliver Sr.
In addition to his human family, Eddie is survived by his beloved dog Ruger.
Ed Lee Oliver Jr. was born in Mobile, AL on Wednesday May 4th, 1960. He spent most of his childhood and early adult life in Jackson, AL where he enjoyed southern living including spending time with his Granny Brown.
He was an avid hunter and fisher. He loved the outdoors.
He attended Jackson Academy in his school days where he was involved in sports including football. His love for football was a passion he also shared with his daddy as they rooted for Auburn University.
After high school, he did not reside in one location as he built a career starting up power plants across the United States. The states he lived and worked included Alabama, Montana, Virginia, North Carolina, Mississippi, and Alaska. He was the Power Plant Superintendent in the final role of his career. Ed was well respected in his places of employment, and he thoroughly enjoyed the career he came to know inside and out.
Ed Lee Oliver, Jr. held a very special place in the hearts of many. He was compassionate, giving, funny, loyal, honest, and trustworthy. He was strong, courageous, and resilient. He loved his country and respected his President. He truly wanted to see America become great again. He was a wonderful husband, a loving father and grandfather, as well as a great friend. Ed was one of a kind. A beautiful soul that placed an everlasting mark on this earth. May he rest now as his work on earth is complete and his unimaginably incredible life in heaven has begun.
In accordance with Ed's final wishes, no service will be held or funeral. He desired to be cremated with his earthly remains being left with his wife. He requested a private remembrance gathering with his immediate family. This will be held sometime during the summer months in Alaska to be enjoyed in the beautiful outdoors. The date of this event will be determined at a later time and discussed with those attending.
It is encouraged to express your condolences by remembering good times spent with Ed. If you would like to write these down for the family, please post to his Facebook page for all his family and friends to enjoy.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy through gifts, to please consider making a donation in memory of Ed to the American Kidney Fund. The AKF is a national organization providing direct financial assistance to kidney failure patients. As many of you are aware, Ed spent several hours a week in dialysis over the past three of years and made friends who shared similar experiences and health complications.
