LeRoy Earl “Roy” Oliver, Jr., 60, of Battle Creek, Michigan died peacefully, after a long illness, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Majestic Care.
Roy was born July 7, 1964, in Battle Creek, Michigan to LeRoy Earl and Sandra Jan (Hamilton) Oliver, Sr. He grew up in Athens, Michigan and was a 1982 graduate of Athens High School. Roy became his career with Meijer’s on Columbia Avenue in 1984. He was employed at the Columbia Avenue location and then at the Beckley Road location, until health problems no longer permitted him to work in 2004.
While employed at Meijer’s, he met “Dottie”. LeRoy Earl Oliver, Jr. and Dorcas Rosetta “Dottie” Barber were united in marriage on March 19, 2015, in Athens, Michigan. Surviving are his wife, Dottie; two stepchildren, Charles (Constance Baker) Morrison, Jr., Jasmine Morison; a sister-in-law, Diane (Don Danko) Langevin; two nieces, Fawn McDaniel, Amber Bursley; a cousin, Shirley Eskine; an aunt, Joyce Miller; several cousins and many great-nieces and great-nephews and their families. Roy was preceded in death by his parents, LeRoy and Sandra; a sister, Patricia Clute and a brother-in-law, Charles McDaniel.
Roy enjoyed hunting and in his younger days, fishing. He loved the outdoors, working in his yard and all his animals. He will be remembered for his poetry and good loving heart.
A gathering to celebrate Roy’s life will be 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 13, 2025 at the Quonset Hut Theater 132 N Capital Ave, Athens, MI, United States, 49011. Memorial donations to help his family with expenses may be directed to Dottie.
