Ed Snider

“EZ” Ed Snider passed away peacefully at home in Littleton, CO on April 15th, 2024 at the age of 87. 

Ed and his twin brother Fred were born in Glenwood Springs, Colorado to Maury and Eleanor Snider. Ed’s family moved to Highland Park, Texas after grade school in Denver, Colorado. He and Fred both became Eagle Scouts and then Explorer Scouts. During the summers in High School, Ed worked for the Forest Service in Colorado and Wyoming on trail building/maintenance as well as several weeks solo as a fire lookout. Ed graduated from Highland Park High School in 1955, then attended The University of Colorado before embarking on a varied career that included everything from sales to construction, eventually settling on residential and retail renovation with his company, American Handyman. Ed taught a course at Denver University in the late 70’s on “do-it-yourself” home improvements and had an article written about him in The Denver Post.

Ed married Jeannie Snider at the Boat House in Washington Park June 3rd, 1990 and they were an inseparable duo. Often hosting gatherings, volunteering for charitable organizations and always helping out friends and family in need. “EZ” became his moniker because of his laid back and welcoming attitude towards life. His interest in the great outdoors never faded and that led him to join several organizations which included the law enforcement club, Footprinters and notably, the International Order of Rocky Mountain Goats, where he was on the Board of Directors, Manager of The Country Store and named “Grand Herdsire” for a term. Ed gathered evidence to prove that the Rocky Mountain Goat is a native species to Colorado, ensuring that these noble animals had the protection they deserve.

Any amount of time with EZ would have been filled with wondrous tales of the many adventures throughout his storied life. Rarely repeating these, Ed would open new, fresh chapters revealing previously unheard angles. Celebrating almost every holiday on the calendar, EZ had a wardrobe and hat for each and every one. He and his twin brother “Fearless” Fred commemorated their birthdays when possible, with hilarious and memorable results. Ed’s sister Liz Masterson was also no stranger to entertaining and when these three got together the laughter was infectious.

Ed had no intention for his life to end. He conquered his health issues and recovered stronger than ever, surviving throat Cancer, while having COVID, then beating kidney Cancer. His tenacity earned him the nickname “The Beast” from his Doctors. EZ fought the good fight right until the very end.

EZ Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Maury and Eleanor; his son Clay Snider; his sister Liz Masterson and his brother Fred. He is survived by his loving wife, Jeannie; sons Andrew and Eric; grandchildren Sebastian and Oona; niece Katherine and husband Paul Hale; nephew Kevin Snider and countless friends and extended family.
