Janice Bond Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Midwest Cremation & Funeral Services, LLC - Springfield on Feb. 9, 2026.
Janice Elvira Bond, 80, of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026. She was born July 8, 1945, to Frank and Serena Gualtieri in Yonkers, NY.
While attending the University of Colorado, Janice auditioned to be the lead singer of a local rock band. She loved to sing and had a beautiful voice. It was at that audition that she caught the eye (and ear) of Wayne Bond, one of the members of the band. It didn't take long for them both to realize that they wanted to spend the rest of their lives together. The two would go on to get married, raise a family and make the move to Springfield, MO. As of Sunday, February 1, 2026, Janice and Wayne had enjoyed each other's company for 59 years.
Janice graduated from college with a bachelor's degree in art history. She was soon employed as a custom decorator with Famous Barr and JC Penny. She had an eye for design and detail and made beautiful gift baskets for her business. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Janice is survived by her husband, Wayne William Bond; her sons, Christopher (Connie) Bond and Andrew Bond; her grandchildren, Garrett and Serena Bond; and her sister, Carolyn Hughes.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Midwest Cremation and Funeral Services of Springfield, MO.

Janice was such a kind, generous, talented, and beautiful soul. How fortunate and deservedly she was blessed with Wayne, the love of her life, and Christopher her devoted son. Through our reunions I was able to get to know Janice much more than during our high school years together and experienced the depth of her compassion and thoughtfulness towards others.
She found out that during my last hip replacement I was put in a spika cast, she contacted me, sent gifts and supportive communications.
A truly loving soul was she. RIP dear Janice.
My sincerest condolences to Wayne Christopher and her entire family.
