Eddie Lee Baker

Eddie Lee Baker, age 79, of Dixon, was born September 16, 1944, in Dixon, Missouri, a son of Guy Earl and Mary Violet (Kelley) Baker, and passed from this life Saturday, March 30, 2024, at his residence near Dixon.
He was united in marriage on October 28, 1972, at Dixon, to the former Miss Wanda Lee Sherrell.
Eddie accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and followed Him in baptism early in life. Later, he rededicated his life at Santee Community Church, Dixon, where he was a faithful member at the time of his passing.
He was employed at Fort Leonard Wood in the Commissary from 1966 until 1970. He then transferred to Directorate of Logistics as a mechanic on heavy equipment from 1970 until 1990. He then spent two years of employment in the Sports Complex before his retirement in September of 1992. After his retirement he became a full time farmer. He enjoyed collecting coins, guns, and knives. However, he enjoyed spending time with his family the most.
Those left to mourn the passing of Eddie include: his wife of fifty-one years, Wanda Baker, of their home near Dixon; children, Bridgette Purcell and husband Boomer, Dixon; Deatte Helms and husband Andy, Crocker; and Jason Baker, Dixon; six grandchildren, Ty Helms and wife Krista, Amanda Sands and husband Holden, Jessica Campbell and husband Anthony, Tyler Baker, Blake Purcell and Dakota Davenport and husband Jacob. Twelve great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Guy on September 26, 1963; his mother Violet on August 6, 1988; three brothers, Kenneth Earl Baker on May 9, 2015, Ray Donal Baker on April 8, 2010, Jerry William Baker on October 31, 2011; and one sister Virginia Lea Jones on June 8, 1980.
Visitation for Mr. Eddie Baker will be held Wednesday, April 3, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. noon, in the Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, 105 East Third Street, Dixon, MO, 65459, with his funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. noon, with Pastor Shannon Perry officiating.
Interment will be in Seaton Cemetery, Dixon, under direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Pallbearers for Mr. Eddie Baker will be Ty Helms, Andy Helms, Boomer Purcell, Tyler Baker, Shawn Lipscomb, Jr. Scott, and Blake Purcell. Honorary pallbearers will be Holden Sands, Derek Rollins, John Akery, and Steve Kinsley.
