Edwin "Eddie" Dwaine Dodson, 78, of
Rogersville, Missouri, passed away on November 15, 2025.
Born on March 12, 1947, in Hartville, Missouri, Eddie lived a life rooted in faith, family, friendship, and laughter.
Eddie grew up in Wright County Missouri and accepted Christ as his Savior during a revival at New Hope Baptist Church at age 13. He attended Pea Ridge, a one-room country school, grades 1-5, and graduated from Mansfield in 1965. This is where he formed many of the early friendships and values that shaped his life.
He proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969 and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan during the Vietnam War. After completing his service, he went on to enjoy a long career with the Assembly of God Headquarters before retiring.
Eddie was an active and cherished member of Harmony Baptist Church, where he served faithfully as a trustee. He enjoyed the weekly trustees' meetings taking care of the church facilities and breakfast with "the guys" beforehand. Eddie also spent many years playing softball on the church league, creating lifelong friendships and memories he cherished deeply. His church community was one of the greatest blessings of his life.
An avid outdoorsman, Eddie loved to hunt and fish. His love of the outdoors began early; his very first hunting and fishing partner was his dad, who taught him the joy of being in the woods and on the water. Some of his favorite memories came from quail hunting, deer hunting with Jim Sampson and Bob Kuchenbecker, and fishing trips to Canada with close friends from his Sunday School class. He was also known for his gift of storytelling and his endless supply of jokes, traits that made him a joy to be around and ensured that those who knew him will remember him with a smile.
Eddie is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary Margaret Dodson; his son, Eric Dodson; his daughter, Malydia Payne and her husband, Brian; and his four beloved granddaughters, Sylvia, Alice, Vivian, and Iris Payne, who brought him immeasurable joy; and his sister-in-law, Ann Moles
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ancil and Clara Dodson, and his in-laws, Eck and Hazel Moles.
Eddie will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to share in his stories, his laughter, and his faithful heart.
