Melville-Funeral services for Mr. Eddie Ray Duplechain will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, at the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Melville. Bro. Curtis Duplechain will officiate the services.
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 5, 2025, in the Lafond Ardoin Funeral Home in Melville, LA.
Eddie Ray Duplechain was born on June 7, 1952, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He passed away on September 2, 2025, at the Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas, Louisiana, at the age of 73.
Eddie dedicated many years of his life to his career as a lineman for Slemco. His work not only showcased his immense skill and dedication but also reflected his commitment to serving the needs of others in the community. As we remember Eddie Ray Duplechain, we celebrate a well-lived life, full of hard work, dedication, and the love he shared with those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Beyond his professional life, Eddie was passionate about the great outdoors. He could often be found hunting and fishing, pursuits that brought him immense joy and tranquility. Additionally, he had a fondness for observing the hummingbirds and feeding the squirrels, finding delight in the simple pleasures of nature. Eddie was especially devoted to his hunting dogs, who were not just companions but beloved members of his family.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Vickie Dupre Duplechain of Melville; his daughter, Raven Lynn Duplechain Guillot and her husband, Gene; his sisters, Annie Duplechain Teran and Ruby Duplechain Cormier; one grandchild, Zayden Duplechain Vidrine; sister-in-law, Arlene “Ann” Duplechien; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his son, Billy Duplechain; his parents, Theobert Duplechain and Theresa Lavergne Duplechain; his brother, William Duplechien; his sister, Mary Duplechain Warren; and brothers-in-law, Henry Teran and Elwood Cormier.
