Eddie Davis Singleton

"For I am now ready to be offered, and time of my departure is at hand, I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith"

Eddie Davis Singleton was born August 8, 1946, in McIntosh County, Georgia to the late Charlotte Golden Singleton and Jeff Jones. Eddie attended Liberty County Elementary/High School.
As a young boy growing up Eddie was taught by his uncle's how to maintain the land that allowed his family to have food throughout the year. Eddie would get up early in the morning before going to school to plow the fields. Eddie had mastered the idea of plowing with the family horse. It is believed Eddie became fascinated with the love of horses at a young age. Giving him more responsibilities of taking care of the potatoes, watermelons, corn, peanuts, okra, sugar canes etc. There were many times Eddie and his sisters would go in the field and fill themselves with watermelon and raw corn. Eddie was a loving and kind brother to his sisters. After working in the field first thing in the morning Eddie and his sisters would walk to school together. As children growing up Eddie and his sisters were obedient and church going children.
Eddie worked at odd jobs until he migrated to New York City and started working with the Kelly Brothers Construction Company. Eddie also lived in New Jersey enjoying his life with fast cars. Thereafter, Eddie moved back to Georgia, where his passion for horses as a young lad was evident, he respected the power of horses. Eddie went out and bought himself a Dodge Dully to transport horses once he professionally trained them. Eddie was known throughout the horse world as the "Mule Man".
Eddie was married three times. To Betsy Way, Betty Grant and Patrica Singleton who proceeded him in death. Eddie had four children and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Eddie recently began to make changes in his life; it was known that Eddie would go to different churches, but it was clear he took ownership in calling St James his Church. Eddie loved fried chicken, fresh neckbones, corn, sweet potatoes, and a good strong cup of coffee.
Eddie leaves to cherish his memory his four children a host of grand and great grandchildren, his loving sisters Janie D. Jones, of Midway GA, Dr. Charlotte A. Jones, of Jamaica, New York his brother Apostle Richard Walthour, of Savannah GA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
