Samuel Singleton Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by McFarland Funeral Companies - Monroe on Dec. 30, 2025.
SAMUEL LEON SINGLETON was born on December 4, 1952, to Victoria B. Singleton Marles.

Samuel went by many names, such as "Sammy" or "Monroe." He was a man who was well known and respected. He carried himself with quiet authority; yet those who truly knew him understood his warm heart and loving nature. He believed in structure, hard work, and doing things the right way. Not to mention, he was "NEVER" afraid to speak his mind, always with purpose.

Samuel attended St. Luke Baptist Church, where his faith and values were rooted. Those values guided him throughout his life and were reflected in how he loved, led, and protected his family.

Samuel was a proud graduate of the Carroll High School. He dedicated many years of service to the Monroe City school system, retiring as a custodian and union member. He took pride in honest work and the role he played in his community.

Samuel was preceded in death by his mother, Victoria B. Singleton Marles; brothers, Henry and Don Singleton and Frank Marles; sister, Augusta Singleton; and nephews, Rod, Eric, and Rico Marles, Alan Beavers, Anthony and Antonio Marles, Bryant Marles, Jr., and Terry Gray.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Sue Hutchinson, Vonique Singleton, and Mecie Gorham; grand-children, Deterrias and Andre Hutchinson of Monroe, LA, Antoinette Singleton of Fort Worth, Texas, and Keldrick Gorham; brother, Bernard (Joyce) Wade; sisters, Kathy Marles, Yvonne Marles, and Elizabeth Joe Norman; great-grandchildren of Forth Worth, Texas, Aiden Singleton and Aubree and Devin Jr. Hamilton; special companion, Michelle Gorham; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
