Eddie passed from this life on Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the Baptist East Hospital. He was born in Louisville, KY on July 1, 1957. He worked with his Dad, Buell and his Mom, Ilene in the Shoe Repair business and when his Dad retired he took over the business at Fern Creek Shoe Repair but continued working with his Mom until she retired in 2015. Many people said when they had shoes to be repaired, and other shoe repair places said they could not be repaired; Eddie always repaired them and made them look like new again. He would say now you have new pair shoes but they are already broke in.

Eddie grew up riding horses and went to Fern High School where he loved sports and won the State Wrestling Tournament in 1975 and helped Fern Creek High School win the State Title. He also won a Kentucky All-State Football Title. He was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame a few years ago.

He is proceeded death by his father, Buell Thomas and his mother, Ilene Thomas.

He is survived by his loving companion of over 20 years, Paula; his sons, Brandon and Zack Thomas; a dedicated and faithful brother, Jim Thomas (Shannon); sister, Betty Jane Thomas; very close friend, Bob Bosemer; and so many devoted friends and family.

Eddie will be remembered for the love he gave and the laughter he shared. He was greatly loved by all who met him and will be deeply missed.

His funeral is 6pm, Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Fern Creek Funeral Home, 5406 Bardstown Road, Louisville, KY. Visitation is after 12pm Tuesday until the time of the funeral.

You served the community through the shoe repair business. My family watched you develop wrestling skills.
I enjoyed cheering for you. It's time to rest with your amazing Dad and Mom.
