Eddie Dean Vogel, 75, passed
away on November 12, 2024, at
his home in Austell, GA. Born
on October 27, 1949, Eddie was
known for his adventurous spirit
and resilience, qualities that defined
both his personal and professional
life.
Eddie served honorably in the
Air Force for four years, serving
as a radar technician. After his
service, he channeled his love for
mechanics into a lifelong passion
for working on cars and lawn
equipment.
Eddie graduated from Glenville
State University and spent
the majority of his career working
for Cobb County Schools as a
copier technician and later a computer
repair technician. Outside
of work, he was deeply connected
to nature, often found hiking
at Sweetwater Creek State Park
or climbing Kennesaw Mountain.
He also loved sharing meals with
friends at Martin's Restaurant and
Hardee's.
He is survived by his daughter,
Nikki (Vogel) Sweeney; grandchildren,
Dylan, Ellie, Hannah
Rose Sweeney, and Gabriel
Smitherman; brothers, John,
Glenn, Blaine, and Harold Vogel;
and sister, Trava Mayes. Eddie
was preceded in death by his parents,
Anna Louise Rose and Frederick
Laird Vogel, as well as his
brothers, Frederick Laird Vogel,
Jr. and Keith Roger Vogel.
A small graveside service will
be held on Friday, November
22nd, at 9 A.M. at the Georgia
National Cemetery in Canton,
GA, where friends and family
will gather to honor his memory
and celebrate his life. Eddie's adventurous
spirit and loving legacy
will be cherished and remembered
by all who knew him.
