December 5, 1937 – May 7, 2025
Eddison Verrett Sr, affectionately known as Ed, was born on December 5, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Benjamin Verrett Sr. and Louise Jackson Scott. In the Greater New Orleans area, where Eddison built a life filled with love, faith, and devotion. Later moved to Atlanta Ga. On May 7,2025 at 6:30 AM, Eddison passed away peacefully at the age of 87.
For 66 years, Eddison was one of Jehovah's Witnesses, dedicating himself to Jehovah's service. He was baptized on December 2, 1959, at the age of 22 years old. For 50 of those years, he served as a regular pioneer, wholeheartedly sharing the good news of God's Kingdom. His faith was unwavering, and he exemplified Jesus' teachings not only in his ministry but also in the kindness and love he showed to everyone he met his love for Jehovah and Jesus was deeply rooted in his heart and soul. (Psalm 40:8)
Eddison leaves behind his beloved children, Eddison "Eddie" Verrett Jr. (Duwyna) and Eleanor Verrett Barrow (Mark). He was a cherished grandfather to Tionne Johnson (Devin), Marcus Barrow, Madison Barrow, Eddison "Trevon" Verrett, Mason Barrow, Meadow Barrow, and Tylon Verrett, and a loving great-grandfather to Dallas Johnson, Kayson Dior Barrow Kennedy, and Kairo King Barrow Downey.
He is also survived by his dear brother, Linwood Scott (Emma), his loving sister Sandra Scott Brown (Charles), sister-in-law Selena Verrett and brother in law Percy Whitley, He held a special place in his heart for his nieces, nephews, cousins, and all those who were blessed to know him.
Eddison was preceded in death by his Wife, Edna Whitley Verrett, his parents, Benjamin and Louise Jackson Scott, his beloved great grandparents Eleanora and Julius Johnson and his siblings, Benjamin Verrett Jr, Charles Barrett, and Murrell Barrett.
His life was one of faith, love, and dedication, and his presence will be deeply missed. Though he is no longer with us, the lessons he taught and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
