Eddy Joe Merket, age 66, passed away on January 15, 2023, surrounded by loved ones in Odessa. The son of Kenneth and Joan Merket, Eddy was born March 6, 1956 in Loraine, Texas. Eddy was raised in Loraine and graduated from Loraine High School. Following graduation, he began his career working in the oilfield with Sun Oil in Colorado City, Texas. After multiple moves between Texas and Louisiana, Eddy ultimately laid roots in Midland, TX. There he met and married his one true love, Sherri Kay Brannon on January 16, 1988. He worked in various roles for McClatchy Bros. for over 20 years and formed his own trucking company, Eddy Merket, Inc. in 1996.
Eddy was a master on the grill, a lover of the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time at the ranch in Leakey, Texas. He also enjoyed golf and dancing in his younger years. Eddy's greatest accomplishments were his two children. He remained a man of honesty, grace, and integrity throughout his life and career and was a wonderful husband, father, and friend. Eddy's unwavering kindness and wit will be remembered and cherished through the hearts of his family and friends.
Eddy is survived by his greatest blessings in his life: his son Garrett Merket of Austin; his daughter, Amber Kay Holt and husband, Chase of Midland; their mother, Sherri Merket of Midland; his sister Becky Piatt and husband, Joe; his brother Adam Merket and wife, Elsa; brother Quentin Merket and wife, M'Lee, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
