Edgar Ellis "Ed" Bailey

A devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend to all, Edgar Ellis Bailey (Ed), 76-years old, passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at his home surrounded by family & friends. Ed was born on February 20, 1939 in Hammond, Louisiana to Pierce and Lelia Bailey and was the youngest of 7 siblings. Given the nickname "Cowboy" by his co-workers, Ed was employed at Trinity Industries for 35 years. Known for his ease in frequent conversation with everyone, he never met a stranger. His signature smile, hug and or handshake followed by "God bless you" or "have a good one" will never be forgotten. Married for 53 years, Ed and Sherry had two children, Michael and Stacey. He is survived by his spouse, Sherry Robert Bailey, his son Michael Bailey of Albuquerque, New Mexico, his daughter Stacey Barker (Eddie) of Hammond, his grandchildren, Bailey Ann Barker and Brody Edward Barker, and his last surviving sibling, Erma Harper of Loranger and his granddogs Casey and Rocky.He was proceeded in death by his parents Pierce and Lelia Willie Bailey, siblings Verna Hoover, Beatrice Holliday, Edith Mae Kennard, Frances Toney and Pierce Bailey, Jr. Family and friends will be received at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Hammond on Monday, April 13, 2015 from 6-8 pm with a memorial service beginning at 6:30 pm.
