Obituary of Edgar "Eddie" Lawrence Schloop, III
Edgar "Eddie" Lawrence Schloop III, 34, of Utica, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 22, 2023.
Edgar was born in Utica on January 19, 1989, the son of Edgar Lawrence Schloop and Maryrose McMann. He was raised in Utica, graduated from Proctor High School, Mohawk Valley Community College, and earned his bachelor's degree in business from Utica College. At one time, Eddie was employed with the Laborers Union Local 35, later with EMI Guide Rail in Schenectady, as a senior underwriter with Utica National Insurance Company, and currently, was a self-employed mason in the Utica area. Eddie was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and golf. He also enjoyed cooking, gardening, and truly enjoyed working. He was an avid NY Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fan, as well as an animal lover, especially his beloved canine companion, Cooper. Eddie had a sweet tooth and always cut the largest piece of cake at any celebration, which he referred to as a "restaurant slice." Eddie will be remembered mostly as a devoted uncle to his two nieces and one nephew, who were the joy of his life. He was of the Catholic faith.
Edgar is survived by his loving parents, Edgar L. Schloop of Newport, NY, and Maryrose McMann of Utica; his four siblings, Stephanie and Anthony Monescalchi of Deerfield, James Schloop and Nicole Durante of Yorkville, Mason Schloop of New Britain, CT, and Alexandria Schloop and Blake Muthig of Floyd; two cherished nieces, Arabella Rose Monescalchi and Aviana Eden Monescalchi, who was also his goddaughter; one cherished nephew, James Todd Schloop, and was anxiously awaiting the birth of his second nephew. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Susie Wire of N. Utica, paternal grandparents, Judy and Lou Scire of N. Utica, and dear friends Ray, Vlad, Aaron, and Vinnie, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends too numerous to mention. He was predeceased by his grandfathers, James McMann, who Eddie shared a special relationship with, Edgar Schloop, and Richard Wire, and his closest friends, Andrew Kaleta and Matt Ciecko, who was like a brother to Eddie.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to Eddie's funeral on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph & St. Patrick Church, 702 Columbia St., Utica, where his Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated. He will be laid to rest in Forest Hill Cemetery in Utica. Visitation for family and friends is Thursday, June 29th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Heintz Funeral Home, 408 Herkimer Rd., N. Utica.
